Matter certifications report: September 2026

Key findings

1. 174 Matter product models were certified for the first time in September 2026, down 69% from August 2026 (568) and down 76% from September 2025 (731). That makes it the 26th busiest of 48 months on the ledger; the busiest was April 2026, with 893.
2. 5,988 models were newly certified in the 12 months to September 2026, up 113% on the 12 months before (2,811). By the end of September 2026, the ledger listed 12,411 certified product models.
3. Espressif Systems certified the most new models in September 2026 (34), followed by Dyson (24) and Tuya (21). 38 companies certified at least one new model, and lighting was the largest device group (74 models).
4. 13% of September 2026's new models list Thread as their Matter network and 89% list Wi-Fi. Across all 12,411 models certified by the end of September 2026, 21% list Thread and 76% list Wi-Fi.
5. 14 companies received a first Matter certification in September 2026, including Adeo, ELEKTRA Industrial China Co., Ltd. and Alexa Elements (Amazon.com, Inc.).

New certifications by month

September 2026 added 174 newly certified models, down 76% from September 2025 (731). In the 12 months to September 2026, 5,988 models were certified, against 2,811 in the 12 months before. The chart shows every month since the first Matter certifications in October 2022.

Year to date

4,357 models were certified from January to September 2026, up 98% on the same stretch of 2025 (2,205). The table compares the same stretch of every year since the first Matter certifications.

Revisions since this report was first published

This report was first published on October 12, 2026, from the ledger as read on October 12, 2026. The ledger has since gained records dated in earlier months: models certified through September 2026 went from 4,627 in that read to 12,411 in the read of October 19, 2026 (+7,784), and 48 months changed. Every number on this page uses the newer read.

By device type

The answer first: lighting led September 2026 with 74 of the 174 new models (43%). The device type is the one the maker declared to the CSA; the Aug 2026 column is the month before, and the last column covers the 12 months to September 2026.

By company: the top 20

Espressif Systems certified the most new models in September 2026 (34). 38 companies certified at least one. The company is the one that holds the certificate. For white-label products that is often the chip or platform maker (such as Espressif or Tuya), not the brand on the box.

Thread vs Wi-Fi

13% of September 2026's new models list Thread and 89% list Wi-Fi (a model can list both). Across all 12,411 models certified by the end of September 2026, 21% list Thread.

None of the 174 models first certified in September 2026 is listed on MatterCatalog with a US store link yet; certified models often reach stores months later, or not at all. Method and source

• Source: the CSA Distributed Compliance Ledger (on.dcl.csa-iot.org), read in full on October 19, 2026: 15,068 certification records, 5,436 model records and 875 vendor records.
• A product model is one vendor ID and product ID pair on the ledger. It counts in the month of its first certified record; recertifications and new software versions of the same model are not counted again. Software-component certifications and revoked records are left out. By this rule the ledger holds 12,615 certified models from 483 companies.
• Device types come from the ledger's model record, or from the CSA's certified-product listing when the ledger has none. Networks come from the ledger's transport field.
• Companies can add records dated in a past month after it ends, so a month can grow in later reads. We recompute every report from the newest read, and each page states the read it uses.
• Year to date counts the same stretch of each year, by the day of first certification. The previous-month columns use the same read. "In US stores" joins the ledger to our catalog by certificate ID.
• A certification shows that a model passed Matter testing. It is not a review, a launch date or proof that the model is sold in your country. We do not test devices hands-on.
