Short answer
How do I reset Eve Matter devices?
Eve resets differ by product. Eve Energy: plug it in and hold the reset button until the LED flashes red. Eve Door & Window and Eve Motion: press the reset button inside the battery door with a paper clip until the red LED blinks (five blinks for Motion). After a reset, the only way back in is the Matter Setup Code Eve created when the device was upgraded, kept in the Eve app.(Eve: support; Eve: Matter upgrade)
As of October 28, 2026, our catalog lists 12 Eve products with a CSA Matter certificate for the exact model and a verified US store link (12 use Thread, 0 use Wi-Fi). 6 of them fall under a reset method on this page; each row below says which.(our catalog)

Before you reset a Eve device
- Find the Matter setup code (printed on the device or its box, or in the maker’s app) and keep a photo of it: after a reset it is the way back in.(TP-Link: setup tips; Home Assistant: Matter)
- Remove the device from the apps that hold it. On an iPhone, Settings, General, Matter Accessories lists what is paired and lets you remove it; in Google Home, open the device’s settings and remove it. Google adds that a device you no longer use should be factory reset after you remove it.(Apple: Matter accessories; Google: Matter devices)
- Then reset it with the maker’s steps on this page, and add it again as a new device.(Google: Matter devices)

Eve light, dimmer and shutter switches
Eve’s support page describes the EU Eve Light Switch (remove the switch plate by pulling the center plate evenly from both sides, then press both left buttons together for 10 seconds) and the Eve Shutter Switch (remove the left rocker, then press both left buttons together for 10 seconds). It does not describe the US Eve Light Switch or the Eve Dimmer Switch, so check Eve’s page for your model before you try it.(Eve: support)
The Matter Setup Code after a reset
When an Eve device is upgraded from HomeKit to Matter, a Matter Setup Code is generated. It replaces the HomeKit setup code and is the only way to add the Eve device if you ever reset it. The Eve app stores it, and you can save it by AirDrop or email, to Photos or Files, or print it. Keep the upgrade steps free of interruptions: Eve says not to unplug the device while it upgrades.(Eve: Matter upgrade)
Eve notes that iCloud and iCloud Keychain are required to add Matter devices to Apple Home, so make sure both are on in your iPhone’s settings before you add the device again.(Eve: support)

When to stop and contact support
If the LED does not give the signal Eve describes, or the device will not take its Matter Setup Code after a reset, use the support page that Eve publishes for the product. Google adds that when you cannot finish setup in the manufacturer’s app, you should contact the device manufacturer.(Eve: support; Google: Matter devices)
If the app cannot add the device after a reset
Apple’s checklist for a device the Home app cannot add: make sure the accessory is on and close to the router, unplug third-party bridges and home hubs and plug them back in, and if the app says the accessory is already added or was used in another home, reset it by its maker’s steps. If you cannot finish setup in Eve’s app, Google says to contact the device manufacturer.(Apple: if you can’t add; Google: Matter devices)
